By participating in the Rainwater Harvesting Professional Development Academy, you will learn tools to take your teaching to the next level! Engage student learning by leading this teacher-tested, integrated STEM unit which focuses on engineering design and systems thinking. Show students how they can save potable water by quantifying water savings through the use of a collection, storage and distribution system that they design themselves!
Join us at this professional development academy and you'll receive all instructional materials and ongoing coaching to support implementation; including an initial in classroom presentation and an onsite rainwater harvesting field activity facilitated by APW's Aqua STEM Community Coordinator.
STEM Unit Objectives: • Apply the engineering design process to resolve an issue. • Discover new technology and methods for saving drinking water. • Develop a system to manage runoff in the schoolyard watershed. • Use data to support decision-making and planning. • Relate rainwater use to saving water and reducing waste.
